Case:
This criminal trial involves a charge of burglary against the defendant, Howard
West, a 22 year old man, who is alleged to have committed the night time
burglary of the apartment of Marie Porter, who was home, and asleep at the time.
Awakened by a noise in the living room of her apartment, Ms. Porter saw a man
leaving through a ground floor window. Missing from a table in the living room
was a small digital camera. Based upon a driver's license, found at the crime
scene, Police Officer Barbara Grand arrested Mr. West, who gave a brief post
arrest statement. The digital camera was never recovered.
At the trial the prosecutor will present the testimony of Ms. Porter and Officer
Grand.
The defense attorney will call William Post, a friend of defendant West, who
will testify as an alibi witness. The defendant West will not testify.
While the jurors are briefly deliberating, the audience will have an opportunity
to ask team members questions about the trial procedures
