The IMC took place for the first time in 1998,
on the occasion of the 750th anniversary of the city of The Hague. It has
become a recurring event that took place in 2001, 2005 and 2007.
The initiator of the IMC is mr. A.H. van Delden, presently chairman of the
Dutch Council for the Judiciary. The organisational committee consists of
trainee judges from the District Court of The Hague as well as lawyers who
are members of the Junior Bar with the Netherlands Supreme Court.
The objective of the IMC is the exchange of know-how and understanding of
the various legal systems. Furthermore, the IMC aims to stimulate and
improve the international relations among legal professionals. Promoting
the city of The Hague as international legal capital is an important
additional goal.
